Publishing your page

Building and editing your page is free — nothing you do in the Content or Design tabs goes live on its own. Clicking Publish is what actually makes your current content visible at your public profile address.

Publishing renders your current profile — every page, all its blocks, your design settings — into a single static page and puts it live at your username’s subdomain. Each publish replaces whatever was there before.

The subscription requirement

Publishing requires an active (or trialing) paid subscription on that profile. This applies per profile — if you create a second profile under a different username, it needs its own subscription too, separate from your first one’s.

If you click Publish without an active subscription, you’ll be prompted to choose a plan instead of publishing. Editing your content and design never requires a subscription — only Publish does.

If something needs fixing first

Publish won’t run while part of your page is incomplete — a button with no text or no destination, a heading with nothing in it, a page with no name. On a larger screen, the status beside the button reads "Needs attention". Either way, the message that appears names the problem with a link that takes you straight to it.

A newly added block starts empty and is marked as needing content until you fill it in — a button needs text and a web address, an embed needs its link, an email signup needs a list. Until every block is filled in, Publish is blocked, and each block that still needs content is flagged. A blank text block is the exception: it just doesn’t show on your page.
